Flotilla Planning Party
Date: January 25, 2025
Time: 5:30 p.m.
Location: Old OCSC Clubhouse (now Modern Sailing), 1 Spinnaker Way, Berkeley Marina
(Zoom Option available-link below)
Known as “The Ice” or as “The Great White South,” Antarctica is the windiest, coldest and driest of our seven continents. In its summer, however, conditions are surprisingly balmy, much of the time above freezing during the days, which are upwards of 20 hours long. It is also a time when life is abundant on its ice shelfs – penguins are birthing chicks, whales have arrived and, of course, the predators, from sea lions to Orca, are present.
Polar Latitudes, one of the most respected Antarctic Expeditioners in the world, will be welcoming us aboard Seaventure, their cutting-edge expedition ship. Seaventure’s state of the art design substantially dampens pitching and rolling at sea, making the passages to and from Ushuaia, Argentina, much more comfortable than most other ships in the Antarctic expedition trade. It is also authorized to go into areas that the big cruise ships are not allowed. With a maximum of 138 passengers, this 364’ vessel has the top ice safety rating available and will also take us places competitors can’t.
Not only is the vessel spectacular, but the itinerary puts us in some of the most iconic locations on the Antarctic Peninsula and surrounding islands. There are Zodiac expeditions from the ship each day and also the possibility to kayak and even to camp a night on the continent itself.
Currently, we are planning to fully introduce you to this wonderful trip in a planning party at Modern Sailing (formerly OCSC Sailing) in Berkeley Marina, 5:30 p.m. on January 25, 2025. If you are interested but unable to attend in person, we have a remote option. See below for the link.
In the meantime, here are some resources for you to download and review:
- A Polar Latitudes brochure for the expedition (including the early booking discount available to the first four couples or roommates who book with us!)
- A price list (Note: this sheet reflects an early booking discount which will disappear soon, but certainly by end of January. We have several staterooms already booked by us and available to you that have that price discount locked in, first come first served)
- Polar Latitudes “By the Numbers,” which demonstrates why Polar Latitudes is “Not just another company. Not just another experience.”
